CFCR TO BROADCAST 2015 HOMELESSNESS MARATHON VIA CFRC KINGSTON!

Feb 11, 2015

On Wednesday, February 25th to Thursday, February 26th, 2015, Kingston, Ontario campus/community radio station CFRC 101.9FM will host the 2015 installment of the Homelessness Marathon. This annual broadcast is shared by campus and community stations across Canada (there is also an American marathon) in an effort to raise awareness about homelessness in Canadian communities. The Marathon will include segments contributed by 14 stations representing six provinces.

According to CFRC's website, the Marathon began in 1998 in Geneva, New York. On February 17, 2015, the 17th annual Homelessness Marathon will take place in Sarasota, FL. The concept moved North to Canada 13 years ago with CKUT 90.3FM in Montreal as the host station. Last year the Marathon was hosted by CJSR 88.5FM in Edmonton, and this year, CFRC takes the reins.

CFCR 90.5FM is proud to be a supporting station this year, broadcasting the marathon live from 1-6am (CST) on the night of Wednesday, February 25th (early morning of Thursday, Feburary 26th). Our regular Overnighter program will be pre-empted on this day.
