This is an all-ages, physically accessible licensed event. If that wasn't enough fun for y'all, the showcase offers a fantastic $5 Beer and Hot Dog special (selection and quantities limited). Be sure to come down and see great Saskatoon music with some tasty treats! This showcase is proudly supported by our good friends at SaskMusic, a member-based, non-profit corporation representing the four components of the music and sound recording industries and community of Saskatchewan.
Starting out as a quiet but mystifying solo project by Peter Grier, Caves is now a four-piece band that embraces a fuller pop sound without sacrificing any DIY charm. Citing fellow Sled Island performer Mount Eerie as an influence, Grier delivers cryptic lyrics softly and lets the guitars do the shouting.
3pm – CRABSTYLE
The spirit of ‘90s hip-hop is karate chopping its way into 2018 with CRABSTYLE, a five-piece rap outfit founded on soulful beats and pure bars. Over nostalgic, sample-heavy production complete with record scratches, MCs Ibonic and Ekspand trade off silky bars that flow without falter. With CRABSTYLE’s classic sound, resisting the urge to bob your head is impossible.
A swine as old as time, Ancient Pig is a gnashing new rock band made up of a few familiar faces. Members of some really awesome Saskatoon bands (The Radiation Flowers, The Switching Yard) come together for a snarling take on garage-punk that gets straight to the point. Catch them rip ahead of their forthcoming debut release.
Taking cues from their violent moniker and haunting strains of bedroom rock, The Avulsions marry the jangled nerves of tensely-wound guitar and brooding bass with skittering percussion that dips fearlessly into the macabre. Hypnotic and brooding, this is the sound of true dystopian futurism.
