Although we're always sad to see hosts leave and shows discontinue, it's really exciting to get new hosts and new programs on the air. This fall, we've seen some of our wonderful hosts bid us adieu, but we've got some excellent replacements all lined up for you.
With the departure of our Friday evening gaming extravaganza How I Spent My Summer Vacation, we are very proud to bring you an all-new spoken word program devoted to Saskatoon's vibrant and exciting live theatre scene. Mom, I'm a Thespian will delve into the local theatre community, bringing you information on many local productions and the people who make them. Host Heather Morrison is a well-known fixture in the city and will mix news, reviews, previews and interviews to create an interesting and engaging program. Mom, I'm a Thespian airs each Friday from 7-7:30pm.
It's very encouraging when we see young people become involved at CFCR. So, it's with a great amount of pride that we present a new program created, voiced, engineered and programmed by a class of high school students from Aden Bowman Collegiate. Collective Voice is the brainchild of teacher (and CFCR alum) Shelly Loeffler, who has developed a class with a curriculum that includes the production of a weekly radio program to be broadcast right here at CFCR 90.5FM. Each week, a small group of students will bring you a half-hour spoken word program covering a topic that they choose, giving a unique perspective on the world. Collective Voice airs each Monday from 6:30-7pm, replacing the weekly rebroadcast of Comic Chat. But don't fret, Comic Chat still airs every Friday from 6-6:30pm.
Last but not least, our faithful purveory of heavy music, Eric the Red, has left CFCR to pursue a career in broadcasting, leaving his Thursday night metal-fest Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing without a host. Local man-about-metal Skot Hamilton has bravely stepped into Eric's shoes... sort of. Tune in every Thursday from 11pm-12:30am to hear a brand new show covering all music that's heavy, called The End-Times Transmissions. Trust me, Skot knows his stuff and his selections will make your eardrums bleed with pleasure.
