Classical Discoveries
-
Host: Daniel Beland
Classical Discoveries is a classical music show with a twist. As its title implies, in addition to the traditional classical repertoire, the show emphasizes lesser known works. Canadian composers and musicians are prominently featured, as well as 20th century and contemporary music. However, classical music from all eras and genres is included in the show. This is true because the content varies greatly from one week to another, as each show is centered on a broad historical, geographical or musicological theme (e.g., an era, a country, an instrument, a composer/musician or a genre). In addition to the music itself and brief introductory remarks about the pieces being played (this is all about music, not the talk!), Classical Discoveries offers information about forthcoming Saskatoon-area classical music concerts and events

The namesake "Lower Case Js" was passed down through wind and fire by a handsome young chap named Brian Cochrane who began the show over seven years ago with his original co-host Clint Needham. The first hour of the show is a tasty melange of new Canadian independent music, including our favorite local bands, tossed in with some absurd relics of the past. She usually tops things off with a dance party dessert.

So Many Roads
-
.jpg)
Hosts: Jeff Montgomery (Every week except the first Tuesday of the Month)
Having grown up playing shinny and scrub with Muddy, Greeny, Bob, Neil, JT and Wolf, I'm used to hitting curves and catching screaming line drives alternated with bunts. The big leagues have a lot of great players, but the sandlots and ponds are where a lot of the best are found. I say if you want to make the team, mix it up, try out a new move, but don't forget your favorites.
And tell me this... If it ain't folk, country or blues... what is it?
For the first Tuesday of every month, CFCR turns the So Many Roads airwaves over to a couple of our favourite local festivals; Ness Creek and The Northern Lights Bluegrass Festival. From 10-11am, Ness Creek brings you their "Ness Creek Radio Review," featuring artists of festivals past, present and future, as well as those playing Ness events throughout the year. Then, from 11 till noon, the fine folks at The Northern Lights Bluegrass Festival preview their summer fest with "The Northern Lights Music Hall," for all the best in fiddlin', whittlin' and great old time bluegrass music.
