The Road to Shiloh tells the story of twelve African American families who migrated from Oklahoma to Saskatchewan in 1910, founding the province’s first Black community near Maidstone. Through the legacy of his ancestor Julius Caesar Lane, Leander K. Lane combines family history and archival research to chronicle their struggle, faith, and resilience. The book is both an intimate memoir and an important account of Black prairie homesteaders in Canadian history.
