CFCR & CJTR REGINA TEAM UP TO PRESENT ''GOT IT COVERED: VOL. 2''

May 16, 2018

CFCR is extremely excited to be partnering up with our southern cohorts at CJTR 91.3FM, Community Radio in Regina, to bring you a compilation of Saskatchewan artists covering other Saskatchewan artists called Got It Covered!

CJTR put out Volume 1 of the compilation last year, and we loved it, so we're super pumped that we get to join in on the fun, and with the generous support of SaskMusic, it's going to be really cool. But, in order for it to be really cool, we need a bunch of awesome bands & musicians to supply the songs! So, we're doing an open call to Saskatchewan musicians to submit applications to be a part of this project. Just download the application form HERE (File format is a Word document (.docx). Other formats available upon request, or applicants can print and fill out by hand).

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

High quality professional, home or live recordings of Saskatchewan music covered by other Saskatchewan musicians!

WHO CAN APPLY?

Anyone! If you can play music, you can apply, however applicants must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who is a permanent resident of Saskatchewan.

HOW TO SUBMIT?

  • Complete a compilation application sheet (see below). Indicate the artist and song you intend to cover and a line or two about why you’ve made that choice.
  • Include a high resolution band/artist photo and bio
  • Include a sample MP3, WAV, streaming link or CD of your own music (approved applications will get the green light to work on their cover submission)
  • Send your complete application via one of the following methods:
    • Email to CFCR Program Director Jay Allen at pd@cfcr.ca,
    • Mail to CFCR 90.5FM / PO Box 7544 / Saskatoon, SK / S7K 4L4
    • Drop off at 267 3rd Ave S (3rd Floor), Saskatoon, SK (M-F, 10am-6pm, excluding holidays)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday June 4, 2018 @ 5pm CST/MDT. Postmarked submissions will not be considered.

ADJUDICATION PROCESS:

A jury will decide which applicants will be included on the compilation. The process will take approximately 2-3 weeks from the deadline for adjudication to occur. All applicants will be contacted with the results of their application. All applications will be adjudicated by a jury of external peers, Radio personalities and staff members who will assess the applications using the following criteria:

  • Strength of the original track submitted;
  • Choice of cover song;
  • Production value of the original track submitted, and;
  • Market potential.

HEADS UP:

As non-profits, CJTR and CFCR are not able to reimburse recording or production costs, regardless of whether submissions are accepted or not, but we may have recommendations for affordable options, so please contact us! We are grateful for the involvement of all musicians interested in this project, and in appreciation, successful applicants will receive:

  • A $50 honorarium, or copies of the compilation to do whatever they’d like with, and;
  • A one year CJTR and CFCR membership for each band member.

CJTR and CFCR will take the responsibility of getting clearance for the cover songs.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M ACCEPTED?

Successful applicants will be given the green light to work on, or send in, their cover song. Submissions will be included on the compilation CD. Successful applicants will receive coverage in all press materials related to the compilation including mentions and play on air. And undying glory, of course.
